AWARD CATEGORIES AND TYPES
NCA provides funding opportunities for communities for a range of activities. There are awards that focus on urban initiatives; program improvement for mental health, and medical intervention efforts; chapter development; innovative solutions for the District of Columbia and the US territories; and development, improvement, technical assistance and training through state chapters. You may apply under more than one award type (Example: Program Improvement and Urban Initiatives). However, you may apply for only one award within each award type (Example: one submitted application under Program Improvement and one submitted application under Urban Initiatives). All award funds are to be used over a one-year period beginning on January 1, 2012 and ending on December 31, 2012. The following is an overview of the awards by category and type.
CATEGORY: INDIVIDUAL/COLLABORATIVE CAC AWARDS
Award Types:
a. Program Improvement (Total funds available- $1,450,000)
- Eligibility- NCA Accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers, Associate/Developing Children’s Advocacy Centers, Affiliate Children’s Advocacy Centers, Non-Member Multidisciplinary Teams (multidisciplinary teams in areas in which there are no existing CACs), Tribal Multidisciplinary Teams.
- Current awardees that received a Program Improvement (PI) award in FY10 are not eligible to apply for FY11 funds for this same grant type i.e. PI.
- Maximum Award Amount- $50,000 (You may request less than the maximum award.)
- Goals:
Applicant must choose only one of the goals listed below in their application.
· To increase the ability to provide trauma-focused, evidence-supported mental health treatment coordinated through and/or in the CAC/MDT.
· To increase the ability to provide quality medical evaluations coordinated through and/or in the CAC/MDT.
· To develop, implement, and evaluate the CAC’s Cultural Competency Plan to better serve underrepresented or underserved populations.
Preferential treatment will be given to collaborative projects that involve more than one CAC. Projects that impact multiple CACs are strongly encouraged to apply. Any collaborative projects must include a letter of support from their Chapter organization as well as from all organizations participating in the collaborative application. All the participating organizations in such applications need to be listed on the application itself; however, only one organization shall be appointed as a fiscal agent for the award. (Any collaborative project may include individual CACs that would be otherwise ineligible due to prior receipt of funds in this category in FY10.)
b. Urban* Initiatives (Total funds available- $150,000)
- Eligibility- NCA Accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers.
- Prior recipients of an Urban Initiatives (UI) award are not eligible to apply for FY11 funds for this same grant type i.e. UI.
- Maximum Award- $50,000 (You may request less than the maximum award.)
- Goal:
· To substantially increase the number of children served within urban CACs.
· To substantially increase the percentage of eligible children served within urban CACs.
*For the purposes of this award, “urban” is defined as an individual city/county with a population of 750,000 or more. Multiple CACs located in the city, or county in which the primary city resides, may submit one collaborative application. All the participating organizations in such applications must be listed on the application itself; however, only one CAC shall be appointed as a fiscal agent for the award.
An organization can participate in only one application per grant type, regardless of whether it is individual or collaborative.
c. Children’s Advocacy Center Response for the US District of Columbia and US Territories - Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and Northern Mariana Islands (Total funds available— $20,000)
- Eligibility- NCA Accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers , Associate/Developing Children’s Advocacy Centers, Affiliate Children’s Advocacy Centers and MDTs where there are no CACs in the District of Columbia and the US territories.
- Maximum Award- $20,000 (You may request less than the maximum award.)
- Goal:
· To improve the quality of the CAC or MDT response.
· To increase access to the services of an accredited children’s advocacy center.
d. Children’s Advocacy Center Response to Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) Awards (Total funds available- $150,000)
- Eligibility- NCA Accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers
- Those awardees that received a CAC Response to Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) grant in FY10 are not eligible to apply for FY11 funds for this same grant type i.e. CSEC.
- Maximum Award Amount- $50,000 (You may request less than the maximum award.)
- Goal:
· To support the development and expansion of services to Commercially Sexually Exploited Children provided by the CAC.
· To support the development of a coordinated response to child sexual abuse for commercial purposes through trainings and community awareness campaigns.
CATEGORY: CHAPTER AWARDS
Award Types:
a. Chapter Development (Total Funds available- $40,000)
- Eligibility- States with 0-1 accredited Children’s Advocacy Center.
- Maximum Award- $10,000 (You may request less than the maximum amount.)
- Goal: To develop a state chapter or to increase the organizational capacity of the chapter to provide technical assistance and support to Children’s Advocacy Centers and multidisciplinary teams.
b. State Chapter Support to Children’s Advocacy Centers (Total Funds available- $8,074,427)
i. Tier I (Total Funds Available- $1,225,000)
• Eligibility—NCA recognized state Chapters of Children’s Advocacy Centers with 30 or more NCA accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers within the state.

• Goals:
• To support the development, expansion, and improvement of children’s advocacy centers through funding, technical assistance, and training to children’s advocacy centers within the state.
• To develop innovative solutions, projects, and programs for providing technical assistance and training to CACs and MDTs in the state.
• To support the Chapter’s implementation of a growth plan consistent with the requirements of chapter standards for accreditation.
• To develop sufficient Chapter infrastructure to properly administer funding and programs to CACs/MDTs.
ii. Tier II (Total Funds Available— $2,664,427)
• Eligibility—NCA recognized state Chapters of Children’s Advocacy Centers with 16-29 NCA accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers within the state.

• Goals:
• To support the development, expansion, and improvement of children’s advocacy centers through funding, technical assistance, and training to children’s advocacy centers within the state.
• To develop innovative solutions, projects, and programs for providing technical assistance and training to CACs and MDTs in the state.
• To support the Chapter’s implementation of a growth plan consistent with the requirements of chapter standards for accreditation.
• To develop sufficient Chapter infrastructure to properly administer funding and programs to CACs/MDTs.
iii. Tier III (Total Funds Available—$2,615,000)
• Eligibility—NCA recognized state Chapters of Children’s Advocacy Centers with 6-15 NCA accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers within the state.

• Goals:
• To support the development, expansion, and improvement of children’s advocacy centers through funding, technical assistance, and training to children’s advocacy centers within the state.
• To develop innovative solutions, projects, and programs for providing technical assistance and training to CACs and MDTs in the state.
• To support the Chapter’s implementation of a growth plan consistent with the requirements of chapter standards for accreditation.
• To develop sufficient Chapter infrastructure to properly administer funding and programs to CACs/MDTs.
iv. Tier IV (Total Funds Available— $1,570,000)
• Eligibility—NCA recognized state Chapters of Children’s Advocacy Centers with 2-5 NCA accredited Children’s Advocacy Centers within the state.

• Goals:
• To support the development, expansion, and improvement of children’s advocacy centers through funding, technical assistance, and training to children’s advocacy centers within the state.
• To develop innovative solutions, projects, and programs for providing technical assistance and training to CACs and MDTs in the state.
• To support the Chapter’s implementation of a growth plan consistent with the requirements of chapter standards for accreditation.
• To develop sufficient Chapter infrastructure to properly administer funding and programs to CACS/MDTs.
