Youth Advocate

Responsible to:  Director, Yavapai Family Advocacy Center Status:  Permanent / full-time  Position/Mission: The Yavapai Family Advocacy Center has an opening for Youth Advocate.  The mission of the Yavapai Family Advocacy Center is to reduce trauma to victims of abuse by providing a safe and supportive environment and facilitating a team approach to advocacy, investigation, and prosecution.  This full-time position primarily provides advocacy and case management services to child and teen victims and secondarily to adult victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse, family violence, and dating violence who are referred to the Yavapai Family Advocacy Center.  As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Victim Advocate assists with crisis intervention, provides crisis counseling, legal advocacy, support group facilitation and makes referrals to appropriate social service organizations.  The Youth Advocate will deliver culturally sensitive and well-coordinated care as well as maintain statistical information and perform related work as required.  The Youth Advocate must possess the skills and demeanor to interface with adult and child victims, families and the other professionals who form the multidisciplinary team. Qualifications:  Minimum education requirement of BA/BS and/or experience in social services, behavioral science, criminal justice or closely related field as well as two years experience in victim advocacy, counseling, or social work. -Knowledge of techniques and principles of age appropriate crisis intervention-Knowledge of Yavapai County community resources and social service agencies-Knowledge of the criminal justice system and law enforcement procedures-Excellent organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and valid Arizona driver’s license.  -Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card without restrictions preferred OR must qualify for a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card without restrictions. How To Apply:Please submit a formal letter of application and your professional resume by January 5th to the Yavapai Family Advocacy Center to **The Yavapai Family Advocacy Center is an equal opportunity employer.
