How Nala Supports Kids - National Children's Alliance

Nala’s Story

Nala once wandered the inner city streets of Toledo, Ohio, until a local therapist that helps abused kids found her and adopted her. Her gentle nature made her a perfect therapy dog for kids who visit Toledo’s Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center. Today, she offers a paw to hold for kids as they receive counseling and heal from terrible trauma.

The National Children’s Alliance (NCA) helps provide justice and healing to abused kids across America through the nearly 800 Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) nationwide. CACs are child-friendly facilities where law enforcement, child protection, mental health, medical, and other professionals work together to investigate abuse, help children heal, and hold offenders accountable.
