National Children’s Alliance is the national organization supporting Children’s Advocacy Centers and the professionals who help children affected by abuse heal. For more than 35 years, NCA has provided national leadership, accreditation, training and support to strengthen communities’ responses to child abuse.

Your support helps children across the country receive specialized care through nearly 1,000 Children’s Advocacy Centers, where law enforcement, child protection, medical professionals, prosecutors and mental health providers work together to help children heal.

More than 532,000 children in the US experienced abuse or neglect last year.¹

Behind every number is a child whose safety, trust and sense of security have been impacted. Their path forward depends on having access to trained professionals who can respond with compassion, expertise and care.

Children’s Advocacy Centers help ensure children and families receive a coordinated, child-focused response after abuse. Through compassionate care, specialized services and collaboration across systems, CACs help children move forward and begin the healing process.²

National Children’s Alliance strengthens this network by providing national accreditation standards, professional training, research and innovation, and advocacy that improve outcomes for children and communities nationwide. NCA also works to prevent abuse before it happens by advancing prevention strategies, educating communities and supporting efforts such as grooming prevention that help adults recognize risks and keep children safer.

What Your Support Makes Possible for Children

When you give to National Children’s Alliance, you’re investing in a nationwide movement that helps children find safety, justice and healing after abuse. Your support helps:

1. Strengthen communities. Support the Children’s Advocacy Center movement so more children can receive high-quality, coordinated care close to home. NCA helps CACs bring together professionals from multiple disciplines to coordinate investigations, connect children with medical and mental health care, and help families navigate the response to abuse.² 
2. Improve child outcomes. Advance evidence-based practices, quality standards and innovative programs that improve care for children nationwide. Three out of four children assessed at CACs are referred for mental health services, underscoring the need for effective, accessible care.⁴
3. Equip professionals. Train victim and family advocates, forensic interviewers, medical professionals and multidisciplinary teams with the training and resources they need to respond to children with expertise and compassion. Through the NCA Institute for Better Mental Health Outcomes, NCA expands access to evidence-based mental health training for clinicians as well as nonclinical frontline staff.
4. Advance national leadership. Lead advocacy, research and collaboration that strengthen the Children’s Advocacy Center movement and advance policies and systems that better protect and support children and families.
5. Prevent abuse and promote safety. Invest in prevention efforts that equip communities, families and professionals with the knowledge and tools to create safer environments for children. In 2025, NCA and our members provided child abuse prevention training and messaging to more than 2.5 million people.²
